The Valiant Woman…

Who shall find the valiant woman?
Who shall find a woman of strength?
A pearl of great price is she,
Her associates all have confidence in her and benefit from her expertise.
She initiaties good, not evil, every day of her life.
She does not neglect her household tasks, she willingly works with her hands.

She rises early, before the dawn, to prepare food for her family and organise the tasks of the day.
She considers her options, then makes her move, investing the experience she already has or even profits previously earned.
She works diligently, taking pride in her inner resources and strengths.
When her gifts are encouraged and their value affirmed, she will work well into the night, entering wholeheartedly into even the menial tasks.

She opens her heart to the needy, she is generous with the poor, yet she does not neglect her family’s needs nor priorities of her own.
She is known for her dignity and strength, she laughs at the days to come.
She often speaks with wisdom and she teaches in a kindly way.
Those who are close to her praise her, “Many women succeed or do outstanding things, but you surpass them all!”
Charm is superficial, but the woman who is wise is the one to be praised.
May everybody value her work.

This was a reading I spoke at my nonna’s funeral a few weeks ago, The Valiant Woman (based on Proverbs 31: 10-31). It described her perfectly and I was humbled to read such a beautiful verse in her honour. The words resonated with me, and I thought it was a beautiful message to share, and an opportunity to reflect and give a silent thanks to all the valiant women you may know in your life, particularly those who are with us still.

Enjoy,
